Did you know only about 17% of people read their Bible daily? This includes Christians. Why do you think that is?
The Bible is God’s love letter to His people. It’s living. It’s message never changes but it’s readers do. Slowly but surely, hearts are softened and wisdom is revealed. The words that didn’t resonate with you at another time, might be an “ah ha!” moment today. There is no way a person can read it enough times to call it old or boring or say “I’ve done that”. It’s a light in the darkness.
There are many translations of the Bible to choose from and compare notes. There are study Bibles that include notes geared toward subgroups such as men, women, teens, children, addiction recovery, counseling, grief, and more.
I’m no Bible scholar. As a matter of fact, I love learning but I forget easily and absorb best through repetition. This was one of the reasons I disliked Sunday school as a child. All the other kids seemed to know the people and stories in the Bible and I felt embarrassed and inadequate. There are times I still do! But the difference is, I now know where to find the answers to the questions. They are tucked away in the Holy pages of my Bible just waiting for the right moment to shine forth like a beacon to my soul.
Reading the Bible won’t save you, but what a gift it is from the one who can. It will change your life on the daily. Try it. Pray about it.
